Illinois Scholarship Program (ISP)
The MAEOPP Education Foundation has named ten (10)
recipients for the
2005 Illinois Scholarship Program (ISP). ISP is a new MEF scholarship
program and is funded by the Grand Victoria Foundation, Chicago,
Illinois. MEF is currently successfully implementing this program. By
August the first two goals had been successfully completed:
- 1) To increase the opportunity for low-income and
first generation new
freshmen to obtain access to higher education and adequate financial
aid; and
- 2) To increase access to financial assistance and
the chance that currently enrolled low income and first generation college
students will obtain a four (4) year college degree.
MEF is indebted to the Grand Victoria Foundation for their
monetary
commitment in this endeavor. The 2005 ISP recipients include six
pre-college program students and four students who were attending 2 and
4 year colleges and universities. ISP Scholars receive a scholarship of
$2,000, in two
installments. Scholars must maintain GPA and full time student status to
continue to be eligible. A community service project is also required.
-
- The Grand Victoria Foundation grant also includes
resources for students to attend the MAEOPP Adult Student Leadership
Conference, and to improve MEF's systems for student tracking and
accounts.
-
- A special thanks to Ms. Nancy Fishman, Executive
Director, and Ms Consuella Brown, Program Officer, the Grand Victoria
Foundation for their assistance.
